Dementia is a devastating disease that robs people of their memories and their ability to think clearly. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there are currently more than 5 million Americans living with dementia, and that number is expected to rise to nearly 14 million by 2050.
While there’s no cure (yet) for dementia, there is evidence that exercise can help to prevent or slow its progression.
In this video, I’m joined by Dr. Katie Mullen, a licensed physical therapist for older adults, who will demonstrate four exercises that can help reduce dementia. These exercises are designed to improve brain function and memory, and they can be done in the comfort of your own home.
So if you or someone you love is struggling with dementia, I encourage you to give these exercises a try. You just might be surprised at how much they can help.
